Inspirational young violinist Raistlin Chan matches expressive musicality, creativity and technical skills to create soul fulfilling musical performances. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence ensures each unique performance stimulates the mind with meaningful and memorable experiences.
Born in Australia, Raistlin started playing the violin at the age of 3 through the Suzuki method and completed his Suzuki postgraduate studies by 10. He was awarded his AMEB LMusA Diploma in violin with distinction in 2022 and is now preparing for his AMEB FMusA violin.
Raistlin is currently a music specialist student at the selective Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS). Recipient of the VCASS music scholarship with violin as his principal instrument, he enjoys performing as a soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster.
Most recently, Raistlin was a winner of the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition; Melbourne Polish Music Competition, and a finalist in the Melbourne Recital Centre’s Bach Competition. Over the past few years, he has also won numerous other local competitions with the Music Society of Victoria and Boroondara Eisteddfod competitions. He continues to enjoy performing competitively as a way to develop his musical skills.
Raistlin is also an accomplished pianist having recently received his AMusA AMEB Diploma in Piano performance. In his spare time, he takes great pride and joy in composing music and he is a recipient of the VCASS music composition scholarship.
He is a full time member of the Melbourne Youth Orchestra (MYO) Flagship ensemble, performing regularly at the Melbourne Recital Centre and a participant in the Melbourne Conservatorium Young Artist Academy (MCYAA).
Raistlin enjoys performing in front of a large audiences and was in the 2022 and 2023 Sidney Myer Bowl Melbourne Symphony Orchestra curtain raiser event. He has also performed for numerous fundraising and charity events.
